ABOUT THE ARTIST
Curiosity has shaped my practice from the very beginning. One of my earliest memories is experimenting with colour and form: cutting rainbow-coloured straws into small pieces, freezing them in water, and waiting to see what would emerge. The result was nothing like I had imagined, the straws were simply floating on top. And in that moment, I unknowingly learned a fundamental truth about art:
the process leads, and the artist follows.
This approach continues to define my work today.
My practice is rooted in intuition and material exploration.
Influenced by the improvisational nature of jazz, I work with rhythm, contrast and the unexpected — allowing each piece to unfold layer by layer.
With a background as a decorator and florist, I draw on nature's compositions, structures and contrasts. These sensibilities appear throughout my work in the meeting between the poetic and the raw, the controlled and the organic.
Further studies at Aarhus Art Academy introduced me to the material's own agency: the point where paint, texture and gesture begin to speak for themselves.
My paintings are not answers, but spaces.
Invitations for the viewer to slow down, explore and return — because each encounter reveals something new.
The origin of my curiosity still lives in me:
the coloured straws floating on ice in a small plastic cup.
A reminder that even the simplest experiment can open an entire world.
